Bridges of Frankfurt
The Frankfurt skyline can be wonderfully viewed from the bridges over the Main river. Cross a bridge you encounter during your city exploration to get a new perspective of the city.
According to legend, the name of the city dates back to the time of Charlemagne (800 AD). The Frankish king was at war with the Saxons and his army was trapped at the Main River. When they saw a hind crossing the river at a shallow point, they recognized their way out. This ford was the salvation of the Franks. However, since the Main River has been straightened today, it is no longer possible to wade through the water.
