Urban Challenger at Start-Up Chile
In December 2015, right around the time before Christmas when we were playing around with the first prototypes of our card deck and apps, we received the news that we are going to live in Chile for six months. We had been given the wonderful opportunity to participate in the startup accelerator called Start-Up Chile.
We were both excited about traveling to South America, where we have never been before. And equally exciting was the inspiration we would get co-working together with almost 100 startups from all around the globe. This post would become rather long if I would start listing the amazing projects all these talented people here are working on in Generation 15 of Start-Up Chile. Entrepreneurs and makers have the power to change the world!
Start-Up Chile is a unique accelerator. In exchange for investment they do not take equity … instead they want to invite startups into their country to foster the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Chile. In our time here we gave talks, co-organized the Science Hack Day in the Santiago Makerspace and mentored young entrepreneurs, helping them to develop their ideas.
During our six months stay in Santiago de Chile we also created an edition of Urban Challenger for the city of Santiago. Take a look at the challenges we came up with for this city at the foot of the Andes mountains.
During the Start-Up Chile program we also got a lot of learning opportunities. Inspiring and helpful talks, great networking opportunities and pitch-training sessions were part of the experience. Here you can take a look at the Urban Challenger pitch at the Demo Day of Start-Up Chile.
We are really grateful for being part of the Start-Up Chile community and for spending a wonderful time here in Santiago!
